Dr Sangeetha Chawla consults on skin for her patients and on style for fans on Instagram

An average dermatologist’s life is filled with talk of collagen, cuticles, dermis and epidermis.
But Dr Sangeetha Chawla is not your average doc. When she is not treating patients, she is collaborating with fitness and food brands to turn into a social media influencer (@sangeethachawla and facebook.com/San.Gee.Tha.5291) thanks to her 80,000 followers across networks.

A resident of Suncity, this alumnus of Gandhi Medical College says she is a fairly new entrant to the world of boomerangs and hashtags. “I created a profile on Instagram in 2015 and realised that people were following my designs. Soon, my designs started gaining popularity and people started approaching me to be their personal shopper,” the 26-year-old says, adding that she designs based on people’s choices and never lets her preferences influence them. “I get paid quite well for my designs as my clients understand the effort that goes into each piece. Besides this, my collaboration with the brands also fetches me quite a bit. Her recent post which read: “I hate to repeat the same outfit and I always try to make unique pieces which can be used in multiple ways. If you are someone like me, but lazy or creatively constipated (no offence), you can DM me for renovating your old and boring clothes. Be patient.”’ got  the maximum attention from her fans.

Her weirdest fan/follower interaction so far? “I made a Dubsmash video of a Korean song with my sisters and three guys created a spoof of it and sent it back to us. It was funny and heartwarming at the same time.” She says she has some ‘big plans and collabs’ for 2018 and for obvious reasons, she cannot reveal it all now, but will let her fans know all about it very shortly.
