Talking about Tech: Dyson launches its first demo store in VR Mall
Walking into the new Dyson store at VR Mall, it’s hard to miss the backdrop of the black interiors immediately offset by the white, blue and pink of the brightly lit marvels of engineering on display. One of only four demo spaces in the country, the Dyson store has a visual appeal similar to that of an art museum and is an interactive space that springs to life as the customer explores and puts to test every component of Dyson technology. You can wander into any corner of the store and catch up with an expert who will walk you through a live demonstration of the chosen appliance. “We want people to understand why Dyson engineers develop technology to make better machines. It’s only by experiencing the performance, that you can understand how the technology makes them different,” says Pete Duckett, Engineering Manager at Dyson.
A pioneer in British lean engineering, each of Dyson’s four product lines — air purifiers, cord-free vacuum cleaners, hair care, and lighting — are the culmination of science, technology, algorithms, and robotics. For all those who are scattered in varying degrees on the OCD spectrum, the Dyson cord-free vacuum is a delight like no other. Stacked jars of everyday items such as cornflakes, coffee powder, and talcum powder are thrown onto a carpeted surface only to quickly disappear under the powerful suction of the shiny vacuum. It’s there one minute and then it’s gone. Surely, this would be one less thing to worry about at your annual Diwali shindig, and after-party clean up?
Proving to be a guard against visible dirt, Dyson one-ups itself with its air purifiers — the only line of defense you need against pollutants and allergens this Diwali, we are told. The demo of the brand new Dyson Pure Hot+Cool purifier that combines sensors, a 360-degree filtration system, and air multiplier technology to clear the air of various diffusions of perfume and smells, brings the store as close to a modern home environment as possible.
But why just clean up, when you can look good doing it? Endorsed by celebrity hairstylist, Jen Atkin (whose client list includes the Kardashians and Chrissy Teigen), get those natural-looking, lush ‘Kardashian’ locks with the brand’s Airwrap hair styler, that’s been the buzz of the beauty industry. Not convinced yet? Walk away with a head of immaculately styled hair — be it a quick ironing with Airwrap Smooth + Control styler or wavy tresses with the Airwrap Volume + Shape styler.
The newest arrival in the Indian market, the Dyson Lightcycle is engineered and personalised around your natural body clock. Tracking the local daylight, not only does it adjust temperature and brightness but can also be linked to age and daily routine via the Dyson app. Sadly, it doesn't serve you breakfast in bed, but, with the option of home delivery, any of the products can be installed and delivered anywhere across the city. Products start from Rs. 22,900 onwards.
