Walking into the new Dyson store at VR Mall, it’s hard to miss the backdrop of the black interiors immediately offset by the white, blue and pink of the brightly lit marvels of engineering on display. One of only four demo spaces in the country, the Dyson store has a visual appeal similar to that of an art museum and is an interactive space that springs to life as the customer explores and puts to test every component of Dyson technology. You can wander into any corner of the store and catch up with an expert who will walk you through a live demonstration of the chosen appliance. “We want people to understand why Dyson engineers develop technology to make better machines. It’s only by experiencing the performance, that you can understand how the technology makes them different,” says Pete Duckett, Engineering Manager at Dyson.
A pioneer in British lean engineering, each of Dyson’s four product lines — air purifiers, cord-free vacuum cleaners, hair care, and lighting — are the culmination of science, technology, algorithms, and robotics. For all those who are scattered in varying degrees on the OCD spectrum, the Dyson cord-free vacuum is a delight like no other. Stacked jars of everyday items such as cornflakes, coffee powder, and talcum powder are thrown onto a carpeted surface only to quickly disappear under the powerful suction of the shiny vacuum.
