Just before World Environment Day, Kiehl launches eco-friendly version of their iconic Ultra Facial Cream

According to researchers, paraben- a common preservative that goes into some of our beauty products - can not disrupt the functioning of our bodies but also harms our environment.

Kiehl’s iconic Ultra Facial Cream has always been a hit with beauty connoisseurs since its launch in 2006. Known as the loyal customers around the world, the ultra hydrator has won several awards and reportedly 10 jars are sold globally per minute. The cream that promises 24-hour hydration has now launched a revamped and relatively less toxic-free version of Ultra Facial Cream. It is now formulated without parabens, carbamides. “Reformulating a product that is already incredibly beloved by Kiehl’s customers worldwide is one of the hardest things we do in Product Innovation,” shares Roberta Weiss, head of product innovation for the label, adding, “It’s an enormous challenge to match the customer’s experience when reformulating an existing product. To achieve this, it took 114 formulations over 5 years to achieve parity in texture, application, experience, and performance.”

According to researchers, paraben- a common preservative that goes into some of our beauty products - can not disrupt the functioning of our bodies but also harms our environment and a lot of cosmetics in our shelves comprise paraben. The good news for Kiehl loyalists is that by the end of 2019, the brand is attempting to be entirely paraben-free. The cream boasts Glacial Glycoprotein—a protein derived from sea glaciers to protect and deeply hydrate while preventing water loss from the skin and Olive-Derived Squalane—a highly refined moisturizing oil that strengthens and restores skin’s moisture barrier.
