The travel bug has been working overtime and has people across all ages and geographies packing their bags and lacing their shoes to explore, experience and create memories. For millennials, it seems that capturing virtual memories and owning the right to brag on social media tops their travel checklist.
In fact, over 40 per cent respondents admit to having spent over four hours a day bragging on their mobiles while travelling, often more glued to the small screen than the beach scene, according to Hotels.com's Mobile Travel Tracker.
Hotels.com revealed that when it comes to what social media savvy travellers were bragging about on their trips - 64 per cent were food snaps! Travel braggers show off their foodporn to those stuck at home with their roti and sabzi, posting gourmet dishes from across the globe, it added. They found that 58 per cent of Indian travellers wouldn’t enjoy their holiday without their smartphone in hand.
Therefore, by extrapolation, it doesn’t come as a surprise that travellers would choose their destinations based on the ‘brag-value’ offered. Bollywood glitterati have been an eternal inspiration across varied demographics and geographies especially when it comes to travel. Pictures of them holidaying in scenic foreign locations have regularly sent their fans and travel enthusiast alike into a tizzy to pack their bags and jet-set into their footsteps.
