Cannes will see a different jury this year as the film festival's organisers have included Cate Blanchett and Kristen Stewart among three other women in the nine-person jury. It is one of the first attempts by the festival in recent times to support women in the recent sexual harassment controversy.

The three other members among the five are Lea Seydoux, American writer-director Ava DuVernay and Burundian singer Khadja Nin. French actress Lea will head the jury along with Hollywood actresses Cate and Kristen.

Cannes 2018 has only three female directors among 18 others in the competition. However, the inclusion of five females among nine jury members is a welcome surprise for all in the Hollywood film fraternity, especially being in the midst of the #MeToo movement.
