Southern actor Vijay, who last lent his voice for the track Papa Papa for the movie Bairavaa (2017), has returned as a singer by picking up the microphone again to sing a song for his upcoming film, Bigil

The song, named Verithanam, marks the first time that the actor is singing for AR Rahman.

The actor-composer duo have worked together on several films in the past, including Udhaya, Azhagiya Tamizh Magan, Mersal and Sarkar, but this is the first time that Vijay has lent his voice to a song composed by Rahman.

The single Verithanam, the first release from the Atlee film, features lyrics by Vivek, who previously penned the chartbuster, Aalaporan Tamizhan for the film Mersal

News about the song has gone viral on social media, with Archana Kalpathi, the creative producer of Bigil, among others posting congratulatory messages for Vijay.

The film Bigil stars Nayanthara as the female lead, along with the actors Vivekh, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Indhuja Ravichandran and Reba Monica John in lead roles.

Bigil is scheduled to hit theatres in time for the Diwali festive season.
