Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently confirmed that she will be seen in Mani Ratnam’s next film, Ponniyin Selvan.

According to the latest reports, the former Miss World is said to be playing a double role in the Tamil film. Aishwarya is expected to be seen as Nandini, the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar and her mute mother, Queen Mandakini Devi in the flick.

Actors like Karthi, Vikram, Mohan Babu and Keerthy Suresh will be playing important roles.

Ponniyin Selvan is a novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy written in Tamil and tells the story of Chola king Rajaraja Chola l. The film is said to go on the floors from November this year.

This will be Aishwarya’s fourth project with Ratnam after Iruvar (1997), Guru (2007) and Raavan (2010).
