Superstar Rajinikanth has officially announced that he will not be flying to Sri Lanka, as announced earlier, for a charity. The 66-year-old actor was supposed to reach the city of Jaffna on April 9 to hand over the keys of 150 homes built by the Gnanam Foundation.

In reaction to his travel plan earlier, the Liberation Panther Party aka Vidhuthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) had advised the actor to re-consider his decision to visit Sri Lanka to inaugurate the housing scheme. They said it might earn him the wrath of the Tamil community.

As a part of this visit, organised by Lyca Productions, Rajinikanth was expected to speak at a public meeting and plant tree saplings. According to a source in VCK, Rajinikanth's visit was expected to prove to the world that things were back to normal in Sri Lanka.
