On Guru Purnima, Sachin Tendulkar posted a heartfelt note for his childhood coach Late Ramakant Achrekar.

Calling him his 'guru', Tendulkar thanked him for guiding him and making him what he is today.

An Indian cricket coach from Mumbai, Ramakant Achrekar founded Kamath Memorial Cricket Club at Shivaji Park, Dadar and coached and nurtured numerous cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Ajit Agarkar and Vinod Kambli.

A recipient of Padma Shri and Dronacharya Award, Achrekar passed away earlier this year in January. At that point, Tendulkar had revealed how his brother Ajit Tendulkar had taken him to meet Achrekar when he was 11 and called the meeting the biggest turning point of his career.
