Designer Sashi Vangapalli had quite the dream run last year. In February, she showcased her spring/summer collection at  Lakmé Fashion Week with her muse Sushmita Sen as the showstopper. Last June, she also showcased her collection at the 70th Cannes Film Festival. “I  spotted Angelina Jolie and Sonam Kapoor on the red carpet, dressed actress Ana Maria Pop and even interacted with Rihanna. It was surreal! ”says the former  IT employee-turned-designer. Apart from putting Hyderabad on the world map, she also opened her second outlet, a 6,000 sq foot experential store at Road Number 2, Banjara Hills.

The store offers prêt and bespoke options for men, women and even kids.The designer who has dressed the actresses Kajal Aggarwal and Tapsee Pannu is self-taught. “I   stay  awake at night to do my research,” she shares. Known for bridal couture, her latest collection, Amaya, features bespoke designs and bridal designs where sequins and pastels rule the roost. So who is an apt patron for her designs?
