Licence to chill: Craft beer company Geist launches their tenth beer, James Blond

The Belgian-style strong ale is pale in colour and medium-bodied, with a smooth finish

Popular craft beer company Geist launches a new beer, called James Blond. As you can guess it is a blond pale-coloured, Belgian-style strong ale. The beer is medium-bodied and has a smooth finish. This is the tenth beer by Geist; they also offer options such as Geist Witty Wit (a Belgian style Witbier), Geist Weiss Guy (a German Weissbier), Geist Uncle Dunkel (a German dark wheat beer) and Geist Kamacitra (a New England India Pale Ale).

The story of the craft beer company Geist is almost out of a movie. A bunch of ex-St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School (Bengaluru) classmates reconnected at the annual boys reunion and that lead to the birth of the company. In 2003, founders Narayan Manepally and Paul Chowdhury returned to India after long stints abroad as systems and design engineers. Their chance interaction led to discovering a shared interest in craft beer. Mohan Alapatt, a fellow classmate, joined them in 2013 and the trio then set up South India’s first distribution craft brewery in Bengaluru to produce world-class, handcrafted beers. Today, Geist beer is available on tap in 70 + locations across Bengaluru, Mangalore and Mysuru.
