A three-day musical extravaganza will make you hum to the beats of Africa, sway to Sephardic music of Spain or sing to the tunes of Cypriot songs. Sur Jahan, a World Peace Music Festival developed by banglanatak dot com will treat you to the musical cultures from different parts of the world.

The festival that kicks off tomorrow will not just have performances by the international artistes but will also be conducting workshops in the afternoon. In its 9th year, the festival kicks off with the performance of Babra from Hungary, who will bring the musical heritage of South Salvs. This will be followed by the Spanish band Liona & Serena Strings. Day two will begin with some folk tunes from Bengal followed by two international bands –Monsieur Doumani introducing us to Cypriot songs and Mawlawiyah from Egypt with its Mevlevi heritage. Mario Lucio, one of the greatest modern musician-composers of Africa will pull down the curtains of the festival. The mantra of the festival is Music for All, Music for Peace and it celebrates cultural diversity.

Organised by the 18 years old Kolkata-based social enterprise, that specialises in culture and development, the festival will travel to Goa from 6-8 February.
