In a land dispute case registered in the Pune, Maharashtra, actor Sonali Bendre and her husband, filmmaker Goldie Behl, have found themselves in the dock. A farmer from the area, Chandrakant Shinde, has filed a case of fraud and violation of rules against the couple and two others with regards to a 30-guntha land in Maval. The case is currently pending in the Civil Court of Vadgaon Maval, with the next hearing scheduled for April 20.

Farmer alleges illegal acquisition and threats: Sonali Bendre denies involvement

Chandrakant Shinde states that his family has ancestral rights over the land in Uksan village since before 1957. According to the petition filed by him, the plot of land of approximately 32,000 square feet was illegally purchased by Goldie Behl without taking into consideration the ancestral rights of his family. Shinde has further claimed that there were attempts at unauthorized construction on the land, and his family was threatened in the process.

The complaint was first lodged with the police. However, as it was a civil matter, it was taken to court. Chandrakant has demanded a stay order on the land so that no work is done on it until his ownership is legally established.

On the other hand, Sonali Bendre has denied any involvement in the deal. Through her lawyers, she has denied the claims stating that her name is not found in any government records or land sale documents. The lawyers have claimed that the accusations against her are completely baseless and are only intended to extort money.

Her counsel also drew attention to the fact that Chandrakant Shinde had made similar claims to administrative authorities, including the Tehsildar and the Sub-Divisional Officer. These appeals, her counsel explained, had been dismissed and had not resulted in any relief for the complainant.

The case now depends on documentary evidence and the judgment of the court regarding the claims of ownership. The next hearing will take place on April 20.
