THE BEST THING about The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is that it’s away from the crowded food court in Quest Mall. Nestled in a corner on the second floor of the mall, the 50-seater cafe now has updated its menu with a delectable spread.
The Los Angeles-based brand, with more than 1,200 outlets across 30 countries, welcomed us with an Infused Cinnamon Mocha when we visited outlet. The sweet notes of the classic coffee beverage with cream lifted our mood instantly. From the new menu, we sampled a Creamy Caesar Salad. The classic salad, spruced up here with extra cheese and served with slices of boiled eggs, is a filling bowl.
For the gourmands, the coffee joint offers a wide array of sandwiches -- we opted for Turkey Ham and Melted Cheddar Sandwich, which were served with pickled veggies and chips. The layer of fried eggs, turkey ham and melted cheddar cheese sandwich between the Ciabatta bread makes for a delectable bite and is highly recommended. The pickled veggies add a tangy twist to the otherwise subdued notes of the sandwich.
Meanwhile, Jalapeno Veg Wrap was far from subdued. Exotic chargrilled veggies like bell peppers, mushrooms and Jalapeno with sweet notes of American corn wrapped in grilled tortilla wrap gave a burst of flavours to our taste buds and we loved each bite of the wrap.
The Kolkata outlet, franchised by Global Kitchens also offers delights like Jalapeno Ham Bagels, Butter Croissant, Cheese Croissant, Multigrain Croissant and Veg Puff and Non-Veg Puffs. The dessert selection is an abundance of sweet treats with options like Caramel Peanut Tart, Boston Nut Brownie and Moch a Hazelnut Cake, among others. We choose the Baked Lemon Cheese Cake, whose creamy and lemony notes made it the perfect candidate to end the meal with.
