Cheat day, is perhaps the most awaited day every week for anyone who is conscious of what they eat. So if your cheat day falls on a Sunday, we suggest you head straight to ITC Gardenia. The hotel’s newly introduced Sunday brunch buffet is a lavish spread that includes a selection of dishes from their four restaurants — Cubbon Pavilion, Edo, K&K and Ottimo.
Although we headed early, we were quite surprised to see all the three seating areas of Cubbon Pavilion, Lotus Pavilion and Edo, packed with guests. We opted for a table indoors at the Cubbon Pavilion. But before we decided to pick and choose, we took a quick tour. We first headed to the live grill counter and chose lamb and chicken from the options of meats and vegetables. Then, we headed to Edo and requested the chef to send us an assortment of sushi.

Surf and turf
Back at our table, we started with kebabs from K&K — the Dum ke Bhole, Bhutta Kebab, Ajwain Mahi Tikka (fish) and Murgh Chapli Kebab (chicken). The Bhutta Kebab  is especially recommended for its soft velvety texture that could give a galouti kebab a run for its money. The chicken and lamb from the live grill has got to be on your list, particularly if you are a meat-lover. The subtle spices enhance the flavour of the meat. By now, our sushi from Edo had arrived. It included  Salmon Sashimi, California Roll, Philadelphia Roll and Salmon Nigiri. This was followed by Tempura. Next, we tried the Salmon Ravioli from the pasta counter. The soft-pillowy raviolis made in-house must not be missed. Next, from the K&K offerings, we highly recommend the Nihari Gosht and the Gosht Dum Biryani. While we enjoyed our meal, we were entertained by an up and coming magician.

Sweet finale
Our attention shifted to the desserts section and it’s not an exaggeration that this section is a buffet by itself. It was quite a task to choose from over 50 options. From the options we  tried, highly recommended are the Green Tea and Black Currant Delice, Mango Passion and Curd Savarin and Lemon Merigue Tart — both are quite light and the lemon tart cleanses the palate with its tartness. The glazed texture of the Strawberry Mousse Dulcey Streusel makes it worth a try. With such an indulgent buffet, we confidently say that the team at ITC pulls out all stops to offer one of the best Sunday brunches in the city.
