While we’re not strangers to the notion of ready-to-eat meals available throughout the country, it’s still not the first choice of many. Kochi-based Amalgam Foods—which boasts of over 30 years of experience in the global food processing industry—is out to shatter the misconceptions against heat-and-serve options with Buffet,a convenience store concept.Furnished with segments ranging from fresh ingredients such as organic corn to Indian delicacies including keema kathi rolls, this year-old endeavour now offers free delivery across Kochi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.“Made with locally sourced ingredients at our factory facilities in Alappuzha, the 100 plus additive-free products listed under Buffet are processed at -18 degrees and kept so until we deliver it to your doorstep,” shares Sundeep C Kurian, who helms the operations front.

Spoilt for choice
Aimed at tapping into desi recipes, their heat-and-serve curry variants feature authentic preparations including Amritsari machhi, Kerala style fish curry, alongside an array of kebabs and momos. “Apart from unique offerings like kothu parotta—developed in collaboration with our research division—the exclusive items made available through our e-portal include imported variants of pork and chicken sausages from Sri Lanka,” explains Sundeep, adding that they adhere to strict quality-control standards. Currently focussing on opening more of their experience-oriented flagship stores across cities like Chennai, Buffet will be expanding their curries and desi snack sections in the near future.
