

One of the best running backs in the league, former NFL player Doug Martin passed away at the age of 36, a source close to him confirmed. Media cited police struggle behind his cause of death.
Multiple sources familiar with the investigation said that Doug died early Saturday morning while in Oakland police custody.
The 36-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead after police responded to reports of a home break-in. This happened around 4.15 a.m. in East Oakland, as per sources. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the incident is currently under investigation by several local law enforcement agencies.
His family released a statement to the media, which said: “It is with great sadness to inform you all that Doug Martin passed away Saturday morning. Cause of death is currently unconfirmed. Please respect our privacy at this time.”
Also known as "Muscle Hamster", Doug was best known for his explosive performances with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It didn't take him long to leave his mark on the league.
The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers standout amassed 5,356 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns, along with over 1,200 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. He played in the league from 2012 to 2018 after a stellar collegiate career at Boise State and was selected 31st overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.

They also recognised his achievement as one of the "Top 50 Buccaneers of all time," making him a favourite among fans.
One fan shared a throwback video of Doug Martin’s legendary performance on X — 265 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 22 carries.
"Sad to see this news today. I was lucky enough to be at that game in Oakland. Muscle hamster was amazing that day," a fan said.
Doug Martin finished his NFL career with the Oakland Raiders during the 2018 season. His teammates have opened up since his passing, calling him a humble and hard-working man.
Since his retirement, Doug had mostly stayed out of public spotlight. His passing has left the NFL community in deep mourning.
