Tata Motors rolled out the first Altroz hatchback from their Pune facility recently. The brand is set to launch it in the market by January 2020.
Based on the 45X Concept that was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo held in New Delhi, the Altroz is Tata’s second vehicle that has been designed under the Impact 2.0 design language and is based on a new ALFA architecture.
According to the company, the car is set to redefine the premium hatchback category with its advanced platform, thrilling performance, connected technologies and futuristic design.
The expectations are high and we will give it to the manufacturer for designing a very good looking car, however, the design has never been their problem.
The question always comes down to reliability as we have seen with the Hexa and more recently the Harrier.
Hopefully, this is something that the carmaker has addressed with the Altroz and unlike the Harrier — which had a few ergonomic issues as well, the Altroz has fared better.
The vehicle is expected to come with both petrol and diesel engine options, however, the company has been rather tight-lipped on the specifications of each.
The cabin is touted to be futuristic, spacious and will also come with a premium infotainment system that allows you to access a plethora of functions.
With the Harrier and the Nexon, Tata managed to drive sales with their smart pricing strategy and we expect the same with the Altroz when it finally hits the market early next year.
The Tata Altroz is expected to be priced between INR 7-9 lakh.
