Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen won his first title in five years at the US Grand Prix to deny Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton of his fifth F1 title. The Finnish veteran last won the Australian Grand Prix in 2013 and his victory on Sunday comes after 113 races. Interestingly, Red Bulls Max Verstappen finished second after starting at 18th at the finale. 

Lewis will have to race in Mexico next weekend and will be mainly competing against his rival Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari, who came in fourth after he opened at 15th in the opening lap. While the Brit is 70 points ahead of Vettel at 346, there are 75 points left to win in the last three races. If Vettel wins in Mexico, Hamilton only needs to finish seventh to be able to win the title. All credit needs to be given to Kimi who passed Lewis in the first corner, even though the latter started in pole position. 

On the other hand, Hamilton who finished just a second behind Verstappen at the end were side-by-side with two laps left but failed to take the lead after he ran wide at turn 18 and missed the opportunity to grab the second place.
