Actor Will Smith helped his son Jaden Smith get ready for a new project by cutting his famous dreadlocks.

Will, 48, shared some photographs on Facebook on Tuesday of Jaden's before and after the hair transformation, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"Getting Jaden Smith ready for the first day of filming Life In A Year... Maybe I should've used scissors?" Will captioned the images. 

While Will looked happy holding up the massive bundle of blonde dreadlocks, Jaden looked sad after losing his signature hair. 

Jaden is in Toronto to begin filming his new movie Life in a Year. 

Directed by Mitja Okorn, the film will also features Cara Delevingne, Terrence Howard and Nia Long.
