The Accidental Prime Minister film director Vijay Gutte arrested for GST fraud of Rs 34 crore

The reports also state that the money has been filed under animation and manpower from another company which has also been accused of GST fraud of over Rs 170 crore.

Bollywood director Vijay Gutte of 2018 film The Accidental Prime Minister has been reportedly arrested by the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence for GST fraud in Mumbai worth over 34 crores. According to various media reports, Vijay’s company  VRG Digital Corp Pvt Ltd has been booked for the wrongful availment of input tax credit using bills and invoices.  

The reports also state that the money has been filed under ‘animation and manpower’ from another company which has also been accused of GST fraud of over Rs 170 crore. However, Vijay is said to be non-cooperative and has been sent to Arthur Road jail till August 14. According to the law, the accused will liable to fine and imprisoned for at least 5 years if the amount exceeds 5 crores. 

Interestingly, Vijay Gutte marks his directorial debut with The Accidental Prime Minister which is set to release later this year in December. The film will see Anupam Kher play former India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Akshaye Khanna as Singh’s media advisor, Baru. However, Vijay has also produced Emotional Attyachar, Time Bara Vait and Badmashiyaan
