Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has confirmed his role in Hera Pheri 3 and fans could not have been more excited. The 2000 film Hera Pheri became popular because of the perfectly simple yet entertaining comic roles by Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal and is set to return after the sequel Phir Hera Pheri in 2006.

According to media reports, after denying that he would be a part of Hera Pheri 3, Akshay Kumar at the promotions of his upcoming film Gold recently confirmed he would reprise his role in the comedy film for the third time. He also went on to say that he would like to do all kinds of movies with all kinds of roles and not just stick to films with the social cause angle. The actor who is currently shooting for Housefull 4 said that he does not want to be limited to a particular kind of genre, and is open to doing all kinds of films in Bollywood. 

Hera Pheri is the remake of the 1989 Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking and was directed by Priyadarshan and released in 2000. The second instalment was directed by Neeraj Vora and the script for the third was finalised in 2014. However, Neeraj passed away in 2017 and it has been on hold since then. With Akshay Kumar confirming his role, it looks like it is back on floors and will start filming for it soon.
