American celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain has been posthumously awarded an Emmy for his popular CNN food and travel show, Parts Unknown, on Sunday. This is his fifth award, which is the US television industry’s highest honour. The author and TV personality, who committed suicide in June this year, previously won Emmys four years in a row as producer and host of the same show and the prestigious Peabody Award in 2014. The series typically featured Bourdain sampling the local cuisine and culture of far-flung or lesser-travelled destinations around the world.
Earlier this year, Bourdain was found dead in his hotel room in Strasbourg, France, where he had been working on an upcoming episode of the 11th season of his program. He was 61.
