'There’s more to be said on hip-hop culture in our country': Zoya Akhtar confirms Gully Boy sequel

Gully Boy, which released on February 14, is inspired by the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy.

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar recently confirmed that Gully Boy sequel is in the pipeline.

In an interview with a leading media organisation, the Dil Dhadakne Do director said, “My co-writer Reema Kagti and I do feel there’s so much more to be said on the entire hip-hop culture in our country.  And another film exploring the theme is being scripted and planned.”

Gully Boy, which released on February 14, is inspired by the lives of rappers DIVINE and Naezy. Ranveer Singh plays Murad, a young man with aspirations of becoming a successful rapper, Alia Bhatt co-stars as his girlfriend and Siddhant Chaturvedi plays his mentor and rapper MC Sher.

Zoya also created the Indian web television series, Made in Heaven, which released on March 8.
