The writer-director duo Raj and DK, college friends from their engineering days in Tirupati, who started 
making films while they were both software engineers in America, are now ready with their sixth film. A Gentleman, which releases today, stars Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez. The directors were surprised when I asked why they had created the female character (played by Fernandez) who seems to serve as window dressing. “Does she come across as ditsy? Really? Because she is not that in the film. We wouldn't make a ditsy character. That is such a turn off,” says Raj. And DK adds, “She is a free-spirited professional working in America who wants more from her life.” Next up for the pair is a web series for a streaming service and feature film, Farzi.
