The much talked about Mersal is in news again as the film's soundtrack has broken a record, reaching 100 mn streams across music-streaming platforms within a short span of 10 days.

The album features four songs by AR Rahman that are linked to the storyline and brings out the narrative in a way that adds to the film's story.
 
"Aalaporaan Thamizhan" is a new Tamil anthem, a larger than life celebration for all the Thamizhan's. This song has without a doubt become one of the biggest anthems of the decade. "Mersal Arasan" is the perfect track for a stunning dancer like ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay with varied rhythms and a peppy tune, while "Neethanae" has romance written all over it. The pleasing melody, sung by A.R.Rahman and Shreya Ghoshal, is here to stay. "Maacho" is a quirky yet addictive number sung by Sid Sriram and Shweta Mohan with unique Tanglish words that creates an instant liking to it.
 
From the minute the first song released, Mersal has been breaking records.
