Bollywood film Veere Di Wedding is all set to release this Friday, on June 1 but it is already in controversy as it revolves around the coming-of-age theme among women and showcases them exploring their freedom amidst criticism. The film has been banned in Pakistan by the CBFC as they say it has “vulgar dialogues and obscene scenes," according to the board. 

The chairman of the Central Board of Film Censors in Pakistan, Danyal Gilani said that the members of the CBFC unanimously decided to not allow the film for public exhibition in the cinemas as its content flouts the Censorship of Film Code 1980. According to several media reports, the movie which was screened for approval in Pakistan on Tuesday night was deemed unfit for exhibition and The Distribution Club also issued withdrawals of their application for the certification after witnessing the criticism from members of the board.

Veere Di Wedding which stars Sonam Kapoor in one of the main role will also see Kareena Kapoor in her first movie after her pregnancy. The movie will also see Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, who will be making her debut. The film has been produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi and has been directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
