On Saturday, Ayan Mukerji announced that he had postponed the release of his project Brahmastra as he did not want to compromise on the technical aspects of the film. Announcing the decision on an Instagram post, the director tentatively slated the release for Summer 2020. The Dharma Productions' multi-starrer project was initially expected to clash with Salman Khan's Dabangg 3.

 As part of the film’s marketing initiative, the Brahmastra logo was unveiled at Khumb on Maha Shivratri as actors Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and director Ayan Mukerji.
