HBO took to Twitter to announce the much-awaited Game Of Thrones prequel. Based on the lives of Targaryens, the prequel is titled House of Dragons.

The new spinoff House of the Dragon is said to be set 300 years prior to the events of the original show and tell the story of the Targaryens. The show will be written by Ryan Condal.

The man behind GOT, George RR Martin - author of the books on which the series is based - is set to co-executive produce. Ten episodes have been ordered for the series so far, according to reports.

House of the Dragon will be the first of many projects for a new deal that Miguel Sapochnik (director of Battle of Bastards episode, which also won an Emmy) has signed with HBO.
