If only brides could wear lehengas that don’t wear them down while they dance! That’s why designer Julie Shah attempted to create lightweight trousseaus. Label Julie’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection, Abjini, was launched at Angastura, Banjara Hills recently. We remember her showstopper, Prachi Desai, sporting a fusion ensemble when she showcased the collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter Festive 2018. “ The lehenga was my take on what a modern bride, who would love to let her hair down, might like to wear. The bralette with flowing lotus motifs was subtly glamorous,” shares the designer.

Peach perfect

Julie says the idea of the motif was born when she was travelling with her daughter. “We came across a store which with vintage books which had blooming flowers on the cover,” says the Mumbai-based designer. The ensembles also feature embellishments like French knots, bullion stitches, silk threads and bugle beads. The colour palette ranges from ivory to pastel hues like old rose, mint, deep jewel tones and red.
