In recent years, we’ve noticed how chefs and restaurateurs utilise Instagram to showcase their culinary skills and get their food out to customers. Hafiz Mohammed and Shihas Hashim, the folks behind FruitBae, are no different.
Their juice bar which has branches in Kathrikadavu and Kakkanad, seems to have already amassed 24,000 Insta followers—despite having opened their doors barely a month ago. We stepped into their 15-cover outlet to find out ‘if the juice is worth the squeeze’. Here are our favourites.
Calling the shots
Four juices—namely pomegranate, orange, pineapple, and watermelon—served in shot glasses with no water or added sugar. Ever since Hafiz shared a video of actor Tovino Thomas slurping up these delightful libations in a single gulp, it’s been a bestseller!
Guac star
Another excellent FruitBae concoction we couldn’t get enough of is their thick tender coconut combination. Prepared with frozen milk and minimal sugar, the drink incorporates fresh fruits. We recommend the strawberry or avocado variant.
Raisin’ the roof
This dry fruit milkshake seems to have trickled down into the menu from Hafiz’s previous juice bar, PureSqueeze. Loaded with dates, raisins, cashew nuts, pista, fig and cherries, this creamy beverage definitely has a unique mouthfeel.
Berried alive!
A favourite amongst all the actors and celebrities who frequent this spot is a drink called recharger. Heavy on the flavours of watermelon and pomegranate, with a dash of chia seeds. One can easily get hints of mint and lemon in it too.
