Beat the heat with summer coolers at this star hotel with a talented mixologist

This star hotel in Chennai dishes out a refreshing bunch of cocktails and mocktails that can beat the heat in a delectable way

As the mercury reaches a feverish peak in namma Chennai, we decided to beat the heat in style with a chilled glass (or rather say several) of refreshing coolers. So, when the Bazaar at Grand Chennai by GRT doled out a motley bunch of invigorating summer cocktails and mocktails, we decided to give the new menu a shot. Concoction mixologist and F&B manager Lingesh, who has curated the menu, has not only given the drinks a bold and refreshing twist, but has also crafted them in a way that one yearns for more.

Talking about his inspiration behind the menu, Lingesh tells Indulge, “Thanks to the nature of my work, I live out of a suitcase. I find my inspiration during the travels, which helped me introduce global flavours to Chennai.”

After a brief tete-a-tete with the ace mixologist, we began our odyssey with the coolers. First up was the Mexican-twisted mango brew, which was nothing short of a visual treat. Served in an upside-down beer bottle balanced into a glass of mango and tequila, the fusion was fiery, sweet, and an instant hit with us.

It was now time to treat our taste buds with a few shades of purple, courtesy, the Jamun purple bloom.  The deep purple colour of the jamun blended with the gin, giving it a sharp tang, and we couldn’t stop with one.

We might be living in Chennai, but heading to soak in some Vitamin sea might be a dreading thought as the sun shines down in all its fiery glory. So when Frozen tropic was offered to us, it was nothing short of a turquoise spectacle. With a hint of vodka playing hide and seek beneath an icy mountain of tropical sweetness, this was our favourite on the menu.

Tender coconut with layers of goodness is a staple during summer, and we must say that when Coconut drift arrived at our table, it felt like a warm hug. What we liked the most about this beverage was its interesting twist. While the coconut gave it a soothing touch, the dash of pepper and chillies gave it a zing that we were more than happy about.

For those who like to steer clear of alcohol and have a sweet tooth, Berrylin, a fizzy beverage, is right up your alley. The soda pop kissed by a berry is all one needs to spread smiles on faces.

All in all, visit the Bazaar to give your style a drink.
