Drawing attention to the call for Earth Hour, Bollywood actresses Alia Bhatt and Sonakshi Sinha have pledged their support to the cause, asking fans to turn off non-essential lights between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm today.

Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the World Wide Fund (WWF) that urges households and businesses across the world to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour at the appointed time to raise awareness on the need to take action on climate change.

In India, the Bombay Suburban Electric Supply (BSES) has asked Delhi consumers to support the cause. Backing the upcoming symbolic initiative to conserve energy that would be observed across several countries, BSES, one of Delhi's two power distribution companies (discom), on Tuesday urged its 40 lakh consumers to "switch off" during Earth Hour - 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on March 25.
