Dead & Company is the latest one to cancel out on their performance at Woodstock 50, an event scheduled to commemorate the golden jubilee of one of the greatest events in Rock and Roll history. The announcement comes after  Jay-Z and John Fogerty pulled out of the event. 

The band’s declaration will come to be of great loss to the already troubled festival. The members of the group include Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann who have been part of the legendary jam band Grateful Dead, who have been instrumental in defining the 60’s sound. The act also consists of John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.

The news also follows Billboard’s report that the festival management has formally released all artistes from their contract. The company arrived at this decision after they had to move the venue to Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, 350 miles south from where they were originally supposed to host the artistes.

The event has been in the news for encountering multiple issues including permit denials, event management companies dropping out and a financial partner backing off and trying to cancel the event.
