In a recent interaction with media during the trailer launch of his debut Marathi venture, actor-producer John Abraham said that regional cinema is ahead of Hindi films, in terms of content. The Mumbai-based actor, who is producing Marathi film, Savita Damodar Paranjpe, said, “Sometimes, I feel the best content does not come from Hindi film. It always comes from regional cinema, because when you don’t have huge unnecessary budgets, you concentrate only on content.” He added that he is also producing a Malayalam film.

Further talking about acting in a Marathi film, he said, “I would love to do a Marathi film if Subodh (Bhave) trains me well to speak Marathi. I am a Marathi boy and I am proud of it because I was born and brought up in Mumbai.”

Directed by Swapna Waghmare, Savita Damodar Paranjpe, is a psychological thriller and it is reportedly based on the Marathi play of the same name. The film features Subhodh Bhave, Raquesh Bapat and Trupti Toradmal and it is set to release on August 31.

John has earlier produced Vicky Donor, Madras Cafe, Force 2 and Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran. John will next be seen in action thriller Satyameva Jayate, which is directed by Milap Milan Zaveri and stars Manoj Bajpayee, Aisha Sharma and Amruta Khanvilkar.
