What appeared to be a pleasant and festive atmosphere soon became awkward for comedian Sunil Pal. He was invited on stage for a poetry reading event in Mumbai but was denied the chance to say anything. The incident has now become viral as seen in a video where the comedian is seen receiving a bouquet before being told to leave.
The incident occurred during an Urdu-Arab Shayari programme where several renowned poets were in attendance. Sunil Pal had gone to the programme after being invited by a close friend and was reportedly having a great time.
As he described, the scene was respectful when he was asked to go on stage and receive the bouquet. He thought it was genuine and wanted to express his gratitude but also thought the poets who were present deserved recognition.
However, the situation soon took a awkward turn. Sunil Pal claimed that a man on stage would not give him the microphone despite repeated requests. The comedian also claimed that he wanted to say a simple thank you but was not allowed to say anything.
Sunil Pal when he asked to say something at the event, he was instructed by the host to sit back down. This situation was confusing and uncomfortable for Sunil, but what made it more humiliating was when people who witnessed the occurrence began videotaping him and would assume that he was receiving some sort of recognition for performing. In fact, Sunil was unable to speak while at this event.
Sunil Pal spoke with his friend, who had invited him to the event, to find out what had happened. However, his friend could not explain why this occurred and suggested that he just move on from this incident. The reason why the organiser behaved this way is still unknown.
