Michelle Pfeiffer is not exactly retiring from Hollywood! The actress appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, shortly after she announced that she does not want to "star in another movie" ever again.
Michelle Pfeiffer clarified her statements about retiring as an actress. In early August, the 68-year-old spoke at the THR x Apple TV’s Leading the Narrative: The Women of Apple TV event and said, "I never want to star in another movie, I swear to God. I only want to do ensemble pieces. It’s so much more fun, I love it so much."
The actress feels her words were gravely misunderstood. Talking to host Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, after he asked about her comments, Michelle said, "No … I mean, it’s the most ridiculous thing...They’re always saying I’m retiring...Where does it say I’m retiring?"
"All that I said was that I really love working with an ensemble cast...I knew the minute it came out of my mouth [that I would get in trouble]...they took that out of context...Of course, I want to star in another movie", she added.
The three-time Oscar nominee had sent shockwaves across the film industry with her statements, with fans worried about her decision to "retire". This was especially surprising after the actress delivered brilliant performances in Apple TV’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Paramount+’s The Madison, this year. Many wondered if she wanted to permanently switch to television, leaving behind the world of movies.
Michelle clarified that she loved working with ensemble casts, especially after having done back-to-back shows together with a pool of talented actors. She would simply love to do more of it, besides carrying on her film acting career.
Over the course of her career, Michelle has established herself as one of the best actresses in Hollywood with films like Dangerous Liaisons, Batman Returns, Scarface, The Age of Innocence, the Ant-Man trilogy among others.
