The cultural hub, Urban Solace in Bengaluru hosts Movie Magic 2.0, a new initiative. This edition of the event screens the critically acclaimed black comedy Parasite (2019). The Korean movie chosen by Time magazine as one of the top ten films of 2019. The event series is curated by Prashant Parvataneni, an independent writer and researcher. 

Parasite is directed by Bong Joon-ho who has previously directed The Host (2006), Snowpiercer (2013) and Okja (2017). The film stars Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik and Park So-dam, and follows the members of a poor household scheming to become the employees of a much wealthier family by posing as unrelated, highly-qualified individuals.

Parasite had its world premiere at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival in May this year, where it won the Palme d'Or, becoming the first Korean film to receive the award and the first film to do so with a unanimous vote since 2013's Blue Is the Warmest Colour. It was selected as the South Korean entry for Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.

The screening will be at the cafe’s new space - The Vortex @ Urban Solace that boasts a large screen and great sound.  The curator, Prashant is part of  Brown-study - a collective of independent artists and also works with The Kabir Project at Srishti Institute of Art. He also teaches long and short term courses on art, literature, and cinema at colleges across Bengaluru.
