Udisha

North Bengal is full of beautiful monasteries, tucked away in the mountains, and offering a sense of peace and calm very few places offer. Famous for their intricate architecture and colourful designs, they are also perfect picture spots.

Ghoom Monastery in Ghoom, Darjeeling district is located at an altitude of 7,407 ft. Built in 1850, it has a 15-foot statue of the Maitreya Buddha.
Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery, Mirik, Darjeeling district. It is located at 5,800 ft, at the highest point in Mirik.
Tamang Monastery, also in Mirik, Darjeeling district is placed at 4,900 ft and is known for the bright red architecture and intricate woodwork.
Salugara Monastery is situated in the outskirts of Siliguri, Jalpaiguri district. Famous for the 100-foot stupa with five sacred Buddhist relics, it is located at 400 ft.
Lava Monastery, also known as Jamgyong Kongtrul Monastery, is at Lava, Kalimpong district. Surrounded by dense pine forests, it is located at 7,016 ft, at the edge of Neora Valley National Park.
