When we see the most extraordinary visuals of a sci-fi or fantasy film come alive, it is more often than not the incredible the grand scale, the off-beat concepts, the enticing technology and the other limitless possibilities that they offer that pull us into their world.

When makers build that world, they add detailed characteristics to each minute element. And as viewers pick put those exact details — the In-universe tech & UI design that feel interactive rather than decorative, the interplay of light from a variety of diegetic sources and even small hidden typographies, signs or other visual easter eggs.

For many such viewers and afficionados translating all those elements onto their real life environment adds much sentimental value and excitement often adding onto their own personality and identity. For all the sci-fi geeks and nerds, we've compiled a fun list of fandoms and how you can adapt elements from those fandoms onto your crib.

Channel Star Wars, Marvel, Doctor Who, The Matrix and more with immersive tech, lighting and design details for your space

Dune

From sand-coloured paints that have that grainy texture. Paired with linen curtains and brass lamps and show pieces can add immense value to bring out the grand world of Arrakis alive!

Star Wars

While Dune served as an inspiration for Star Wars, among many other space-based fiction, The visual language if this saga has been vastly different. While your walls can be adorned in dark matte shades or industrial grey, what would add much more intrigue to this world might be the concealed and mysterious RGB strip lighting across long stretches of your room or even small corners alongside floating shelves, cupboards and even under bed frames to mirror accented lightsaber glow adding technical elements like blueprints of Millennium Falcon or an X-Wing may give it that rugged in-universe tactical props too.

To mimic the Time Rotor's glow, use your floor lamp a flowing orange ambient lighting to add more character. If you have a dedicated bookshelf, you can utilise that space by extending it from ceiling to floor and wall to wall with either a dark wood bookshelf wallpaper or a false recreation of the same

The Matrix

The world of Matrix is fascinating but to make it more fascinating, you can focus on various elements from this world. For the loading program and real-world Resistance you can use the signature deep-black or charcoal grey aesthetic for your walls that are accentuated with crisp whites. Add further details with your furniture and beds. Black leather seating framed with chrome will further add on to this world referencing the sharp outfits worn by Keanu Reeves and the remaining lead cast members echoing Neo, Trinity and Morpheus' vibes.

Blade Runner

There is something about this neon and noir cyberpunk world that translates amazingly into real life. The use of exposed bricks and metal piping bluntly reflecting off the lights from large neon signs that exude some contrasting colours like red, blue and yellow. Back-lit acrylic panels around your bed would also give it that edge into feeling like a part of that world.

Game of Thrones / House of the Dragons 

Faux-stone wallpapers would immediately pull you into the world of Westeros. The timeless character of the faux-fur based drapes for your leather chairs will feel timeless be it Game of Thrones or House of the Dragons that you may be going for. If the Targaryen's ambience is your thing, then try out matte-black walls with crimson details in elements like pillows and rugs depending on which faction of the house you stand with — Blacks or Greens.
