Game of Thrones (GOT)’s finale in May received some mixed response with a few fans criticising the character deaths, especially those of Khaleesi and Cersei. HBO had earlier announced a planned five spinoff series of GOT.

According to reports, one of the prequels will be based on the Targaryens. The pilot of the new prequel is said to be set 300 years before the events of the flagship series. It also reportedly tracks the beginnings and the end of House Targaryen. Writer Ryan Condal is said to write the script in collaboration with George RR Martin, who is the man behind the GOT world.

Apart from this, HBO is currently working on the pilot of a prequel, being headlined by British actress Naomi Watts. The show is said to be set more than a thousand years before the events of GOT and will chronicle the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its Darkest Hour.

Official confirmation is yet to be given by the makers.
