Yet another proud moment for Indian gourmands as two Indian restaurants have made it to the World's 100 Best Restaurants in 2024, ranked 51-100. Mumbai-based Masque and Delhi's beloved Indian Accent and secured the 78th and 89th positions.
The team at Masque shared a long post on Instagram expressing gratitude for the honour. "We’re so honoured to share the stage with luminaries and chefs we admire from across the globe. The spirit of Masque is firmly defined by its people, the ones who make it and those who support it — you. Honestly, we wouldn’t be here without you championing us all the way," they wrote.
In a separate post, the team detailed the restaurant's food philosophy. "Offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, Masque’s ten-course tasting menu showcases India’s rich produce, featuring dishes such as Kashmiri morels with patra or the sea buckthorn pani puri, reimagining traditional Indian flavours with inventive twists," it read.
Indian Accent also extended greetings for the honour and wrote, "a decade of motivation and encouragement...extremely grateful for our 10th year on this prestigious list! A big thank you to the jury and our diners for their confidence and support. this one is for the heart and soul of indian accent - the A team that gives it their all, every single day. we are united in our mission towards an #inventiveindia."
Other than these two Indian restaurants, the list saw culinary hotspots from across the globe. The full list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants for 2024 will be announced live at an awards ceremony in Las Vegas on June 5, 2024.
