Kolkata got yet another new restaurant-cum-lounge with Klocal opening its doors on May 15. Located at City Centre 1 in Salt Lake, the 94-seater resto-lounge bar has three zones spread across a lavish 2,730 square feet of area. The interiors of the eatery, carefully done up by Mandeep Manchanda, carries the old-world charm of Kolkata.

The bar and dining zone has the heritage feel of the city with worn-out brick walls, a giant wall clock, and canvas paintings portraying the old cityscape. There is a private seating area for bigger groups accommodating about 12 people in that zone with a view of the dance floor and the deejay.

“The highlight of Klocal is, however, the Rooftop Lounge with a stunning view of the skyline. It is divided into three kabanas. Guests can watch live shows and cricket matches in a special glass projection. The entrance to the venue is also breathtaking with the staircase telling the tales of Kolkata. All the elements have been chosen to give a feel of old ‘Calcutta’, which has now become the modern city of Kolkata,” says Supratim Roy, one of the four owners of Klocal.

The menu, drawn up by in-house chef Goutam Chakraborty and his team, has taken care of the diverse palate of the city’s food lovers and includes a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian soups, salads, egg-based dishes, snacks, pizzas, pastas and a wide range of North Indian fare. There is also a separate shisha and bar menu.

“We have something for everyone across all age groups. Now, people want everything under one single roof, they want to party, have a good time in a great ambience, and eat good food, too. We offer that combination at Klocal, where you can let your hair down and just chill out,“ says Chakraborty.

The menu prepared by head chef Goutam Chakraborty and team has a delicious selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian steamy soups, saucy salads, variety of egg based dishes, quick titbits, pizzas and pasta, North Indian dishes and desserts. There is also a Shisha and Bar Menu.

“We want to please all palates, all age groups and all clusters of people. Nowadays, the idea of only a restaurant, or just a dance club, does not work. People want both. When we go out, we want a place where there is great food, superb ambience and good music to keep the conversation going,” says said Rajesh Jaiswal, co-owner of Klocal.
