GoT fever to summer fashion stops: the mercury is rising in Chennai

The city was divided into two categories this week:  the Game of Thrones fans and everyone else. You couldn’t look anywhere without yourself face-to-face with references, memes and intense conversations about the TV show. Many hardcore fans even got together at 6 am to watch it before everyone, while the rest of us dodged social media and its spoiler alerts until we played catch up.

Besides TV madness, summer also brought with it multiple launches, starting off with Masaba launching its Resort wear collection, with a make-up masterclass by MAC’S Dipti Mehra. Around the corner it was a similar vibe at Collage for the launch of Pero’s Spring-summer line ‘Finding Pero’. We found lots to love with the marine-inspired colour palette, and the reversible jackets were our favourite.

Moving away from fashion, this week also saw the launch of Abra-cut-Abra, a friendly neighbourhood salon in Anna Nagar. Focused primarily on kids, the new venue saw parents indulging in a little pampering while the little ones took turns between the hair styling chair and the play area. Also, in the same area was the launch of Pounds Fitness Centre, a state-of-the-art facility, with Ganesh Venkatraman doing the honours. I honestly couldn’t think of a more perfect candidate.

Later in the week, we checked out The Gentlemen’s Club AKA Tape, performing to an exclusive audience at Club Crest. The play, which included music and dance, explored the concept of ‘drag’ in an Indian context, making for a hilarious and enjoyable evening.

We wrapped up our round-up of dos by indulging ourselves in some delicious eats at Dakshin, which celebrated its 30th anniversary recently.
